So, how can this year turn incredible? Some of the links contained in this post may be affiliate links, which means I’ll earn a small portion of dough to keep this page running. Hopefully that dosen’t make you go running awesome, because I truly believe these things will essentially make this your best year yet too!
1. Read some truly fantastic books.
I’m constantly reading awesome books by authors who inspire me. Recently, I read Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely by Lisa Terkeurst and I’m into One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp. These books leave me feeling inspired to go out into the world and really appreciate what i have. They are must reads if you’re in a mindset where you find it difficult to count your blessings.
2. Adult Coloring Books
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love coloring. Even as an adult, I find this activity relaxing and great for focusing my attention on something other than my woes. My husband recently bought me a Super Woman coloring book and I’m totally into girl power, so it was perfect for me. There’s much more out there, though!
3. Love the one you’re with.
Spend some time truly enjoying the people you love in your life. Without my husband, my kids, family, and friends, I’d feel so lonely.Sometimes it’s hard to break out of my shell, but I totally value the time I spend with those I love most.
4. List your gratitudes
Gratitude journals are a great way to stay grounded in even just the small things in life. Making this the best year yet? Listing what you’re grateful for really does help! Here is an example of a page from my book:
5. Enjoy the wonders of the outside world
It’s tempting to stay sheltered in on a cold day, but sometimes that cold air can fill invigorating. And if you’re in North Carolina, you get the great gift o never knowing what the temperature will be the next day. Enjoy the warmth when you can!

I haven’t read the book yet, but I think those priorities are definitely in order. Do it. DO IT!
10. Play More
Yatzee? Monopoly? Life? Play some games, especially if you have kids. So, I may be banned from playing Monopoly with my husband because I’m a sore loser, but I can work on it. Play is essential for happiess. Life was one of my favorite games growing up. I could totally play that again, but there’s also Candy Land, which the kids love.
11. Exercise again
If you’re out of the routine like I am, get back in. Endorphins are awesome!

I know I already said it once, but it bears mentioning again. Sleep = good.
16. Give yourself a break.
You know the song? “Gimme a break. Gimme a brreak…” Well, you don’t need a friggin Kit Kat to take a break, but take one every now and then. Even if you have to pretend you’re pooping so that kids won’t come near, it’s totally worth the time.
17. Go to church
Not to sound all preachy or anything, but my church family is one of my greatest blessings. You not only find God, but you find a support system.
18. Drink less alcohol
Yeah, I know. Wine is awesome. Especially the bubbly moscato type. Limit yourself to one glass a day. More than that can cause all sorts o issues.
