Purposeful play is important in kids on the spectrum, as they often have trouble learning how to use fine motor skills and imagination. HOOT for kids uses sensory materials to help autistic kids (and all kids really) learn the skills they need through play. Note: I received financial compensation and a review sample of a HOOT box in exchange for my honest review.
First of all, the box itself is inviting, as is the packaging, which urges kids to open up and see what they’ve received.
The Revealing of the Toys in the HOOT box!
The gifts in the HOOT box were a great surprise to both of my boys, and each gained something special from it. There was a pop-out pirate ship, a flexible robot, colored pencils, and a memory game with construction vehicles. Each piece in the HOOT box is meant to work on some developmental skills, whether it’s fine motor skills (the robot and colored pencils), imagination (the pop-out pirate ship), or memory (the memory game). My kids loved playing with the pop-out pirate ship and the robot the most.
HOOT for Kids’ Treasure Boxes are tailored for your child by the in-house Pediatric Occupational Therapist. Starting at just $34.99, each Treasure Box includes a personalized activity card with suggested tips for play, including instructional tips for parents on how to play with their kids utilizing each of the hand-selected toys.
I can tell you that my kids at a Hoot playing with their new toys and knowing ways to work with them was really helpful. I enjoyed watching them play with the toys and seeing their eyes light up as each new gift was revealed. They could hardly contain themselves waiting for me to hand out each new toy. I hope that you find HOOT just as wonderful as we did! We truly found great joy inside one colorfully decorated box.
