First of all, my youngest child turns 6 years old today. Looking back at old photos, seeing him grow up so fast through my Facebook memories brought me to tears. It made me realize that since I had my hysterectomy, I’ll never have a baby again and his precious tiny little body has now grown into a little boy who makes me laugh and has a personality, but nonetheless, is no longer the baby I once held. I guess that’s part of the reason I got a puppy. It’s called no-long-having-a-baby syndrome.
Getting a Puppy
The day I got the puppy, it was a completely unplanned event. I saw that the pet store had cocker spaniels, and asked to hold one. I fell in love instantly, and my little boy, my now 6-year-old boy, said we had to get him. I agreed. It’s probably one of the stupidest decisions I’ve made ever, because it was based in irrationality. That said, I don’t regret him for a moment. I mean, just look at him.
And the boys love him
Our puppy, named Max, has become a part of our family. He’s not just a pretty face, but playful, sweet, and the kids love him.
On My Son’s 6th Birthday
What I posted on Facebook was succinct but meaningful enough. I posted, “Happy 6th Birthday to one of the sweetest, most insightful little guys I’ve ever known. I knew from the minute I looked at your sweet face that you were someone special and we’re so happy to have you in our lives. I love you, buddy. Never stop being you.”
It’s crazy how fast he’s grown up, but I couldn’t be prouder of who he’s growing up to become.
Look at him grow!
A Puppy and a 6-Year-Old
And so, there you have it. I’ve got a puppy and a six-year-old. And my puppy and my six-year-old are like BFFs, which is also cool. I’ll leave you with a cute puppy picture to wrap this up. Don’t be too jealous. I know he’ adorable.
Adorable! Both the puppy and the six-year-old. Happy Birthday!
Thanks! I think so too!

Yup, Kids definitely need BBF dogs to look after them while growing up.
Oh my gosh, what a cutie!! I could never hold a puppy like that and then be expected to put it back! lol!
He’s just the cutest thing ever!

Happy Belated Birthday! My eldest turned 11 on March 29th.
My eldest will turn 11 on Halloween. He keeps trying to bargain with when his party will be, though. Last time he mentioned it, he wanted it on October 8th!
